WHAT YOU WEAR TO YOUR ENGAGEMENT SESSION IS JUST AS BIG OF A DEAL AS YOUR ENGAGEMENT!

Below are 7 tips to help you prepare & make the best of your engagement session

1.) WEAR WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL CONFIDENT

It is important to wear clothing that you feel confident and comfortable in! It could be a long flowy maxi dress, off-the-shoulder boho dress, trousers and a button down, or ripped jeans and a cute top, no matter your style or personality, rock it, flaunt it and be confident in it!

2.) DRESS FOR WEATHER AND LOCATION!

I cannot stress this enough! If it's 85 degrees, the last thing you want to do is wear thick pants and a sweater (talk about being warm and uncomfortable during your session). If it's cold and windy, you don't want to be in a mini skirt and a tank top (are you freezing yet just thinking about it?). Wear clothing that reflects the temperature and ADD LAYERS if necessary! You can't go wrong with chunky sweaters and hats for added warmth! Dress for the location. Example: Wear slacks and a button down to your beach engagement instead of a full suit! Slacks & a button down will give a casual feel while still looking classy!

I'll say it again. DRESS FOR THE LOCATION!

*If your session location requires hiking, wear hiking clothes and boots/sneakers. Toss your dress and heels in a backpack and change when we get to the perfect spot for engagement session magic! (don't forget your beer or champagne! That is what a side backpack pocket is for, right?)

3.) DO NOT WEAR MATCHING OUTFITS, PLEASE!

The key to the perfect outfit is all about coordinating and complimenting; not wearing the exact same colors! You can start by choosing a color palette that is in season, then coordinate outfit pieces around those colors! Adding in layers and/or accessories with pops of color help tie everything together! Another great tip is to choose complimentary colors because they photograph well (check out my what to wear pinterest board for more inspo) . If you really aren't sure where to start, style & select is a fantastic online resource that makes outfit coordinating super easy!

4.) BRING AN EXTRA OUTFIT

I always recommend and encourage my couples to bring an extra outfit to their session. Choose one dressy outfit and one casual outfit to help bring variety to your session!

5.) BRING PROPS & ACCESORIES

Props and accessories are a great way to bring your personality and interests into your session! If your a guitarist, bring your guitar and play a little tune during your session. Love hats? Great, me too! Hats are my favorite accessory to add to any outfit, so bring it to your session. Beer, champagne, save-the-date signs, dogs and cats are all welcome to tag along during your engagement session! (Seriously, please bring your cat and we'll get along just fine!)

6.) PROFESSIONAL HAIR & MAKEUP

I highly recommend arranging to have your hair and makeup professionally done for your engagement session! Not only does it give you an excuse to get pampered before your session, but having your makeup professionally done gives you an added boost of confidence and the makeup shows off really well in photos!

*Try to schedule your professional hair & makeup trial run on the day of your engagement session so you can get a feel for your bridal makeup before your wedding day!

7.) RELAX!

Try to relax and go into your engagement session with an open mind and ready to have some fun! Let loose, be silly, be passionate and let your emotions speak for themselves through images!
